Good for you... and for the planet!
A 100% fully controlled growing environment for unparalleled quality.
Enjoy the sweet, juicy taste of perfect strawberries, 12 months a year.
The great taste of local innovation!
How do you get to enjoy Quebec strawberries, even in January? Thanks to local innovation! Fraise d’hiver strawberries grow under perfect weather conditions in a 100% controlled indoor farm.
Less water
In a vertical farm, rainwater is used to irrigate the plants and 90% of that water gets recirculated throughout the growing process.
Less transportation
Your strawberries don’t have to cross the entire continent before getting to your plate. They are picked at the peak of ripeness, locally.
Less waste
By controlling the environment, losses are extremely limited, so waste is reduced right at the source.
Natural pollination
Pollination is achieved thanks to the meticulous work of bumblebees, just as it is in open nature!
FAQ
-
Why is the packaging plastic?
To better preserve the product, both in-store and at home! Plastic means less waste and turns out to be the best option to protect the product, among all the materials we tested (for over a year and a half – no kidding!). The plastic we selected is made of 100% post-consumer recycled materials, right here in Quebec. We also made a point of indicating the correct sorting instructions for consumers right on the package.
-
Do the strawberries need to be washed before eating?
No! They’re are suitable for consumption, ready to eat!
-
Are Fraise d’hiver strawberries greenhouse-grown?
Not quite! Although strawberries are increasingly being grown in greenhouses, for example by leading-edge growers like Savoura or Demers, the vertical farm and its specific innovative technology has several advantages. For instance, in indoor farms, the weather is always great! We fully control the environment, which means that the strawberries get everything they need, throughout the entire growing process.
-
What is the best way to store Fraise d’hiver strawberries?
Fraise d’hiver strawberries wear their name well… they love the cold! Store them in the fridge in their original packaging to keep them fresh as long as possible. Tip: For optimal flavour, take them out of the fridge 30 – 60 minutes before eating them.
